"See You Fly" finally recorded

Finally, here’s the song I composed (with my friend Mike Finkel) for my wife Stephany before our wedding March 30, 2007. There’s actually a video performance in case you missed it (and it’s below as well)!

Music and lyrics by Nico Sanchez and Mike Finkel.

The words:

I remember first seeing your eyes
And first believing in your dreams
This is my trip in front of me
I couldn’t wait to find out more

I remember first sharing our fears
And you now saw into my eyes
I am on board this adventure
I’m not afraid to give my all

I believe it’s your destiny to shine
And my fortune to be at your side
Be your missing puzzle piece
Your hand will fit into mine

I want to see you fly
I always believed you’d soar
Let me be the blue, the air
Together there’s no horizon (bis)

I remember first seeing your eyes
And first believing your dreams
This is our trip in front of us
I can’t wait to find out more

Tomorrow we’ll build our home
Brick by brick we will surpass our goals
Our joy is our future
Tomorrow has no ends

Here’s the instrumentation:

Verses: Am – D7
Pre-chorus: Ebmaj7 – Bbmaj7 – C – D7
Chorus: G – Bm7 – Am – (Bbmaj7 – Abmaj7)

All recorded via Logic Express 7 with a Rode NT1A condenser mic through the FMR RNP. The electric guitar (Fender American Telecaster) was recording through the RNP direct-in and into NI Guitar Rig 2 (one of the Fender Bassman amp patches). The bass also went through the RNP and NI Guitar Rig 2.

The whole composition was meant for this wedding reception performance, March 30, 2007:

I’m happy that this is now finally a record :-)

  1. Hey guys….love the song. It’s nice to see that you two found each other so early in life. Laura and I had to go through a few ‘dud’ relationships before we found each other…two people who simply adore one anothers company.

Cheers….and looking forward to your next Tinto TV installment.
