My name is Nico Sanchez, Tinto Records is my project.

Tinto Records is an idea that spawned in conversation with a couple of friends at Stanford University when trying to come up with a name for a personal laptop recording studio. I have taken Tinto Records and used the name not only to represent my studio and my “label”, but also to mainly put a name on a concept. This concept focuses on artful expression and musical creativity in addition to appreciation for “los frutos de la tierra”, tintos.

On the studio side, I focus on recording my personal projects in effort to create a diverse porfolio of compositions and recordings. My current audio projects are being collected in my first “album” called Portafolio 1. My recording setup is suited for singer/songwriter types (and duos) without recording of live drums, instead loops and patterns are programmed. The studio is fit for collaborations and strives to yield professional results.

“Tinto” in Spanish literally means red, and in many Latin American countries, it is used to refer to red wine. In my native Colombia, it is the common term for coffee. I am a great fan of both. In addition to the great variety of unbelievable tastes, these tintos offer a part of the land and culture they came from that can be greatly inspiring and soothing, especially when appreciating expression and creativity.

With Tinto Records, and with my wife, we excitingly channel our love for wine to an interest and curiosity for winemaking. Our product? Tinto TV (http://tv.tintorecords.com OR http://www.tintorecords.com/tv/ ). We want to share our creation and make this hobby more accessible to those interested. Please view our episodes and leave us some feedback! Comment or email both of us!
